Picture Perfect

I’ve always loved photography. Even in my teenage days, I’d take my cheap wind-up camera and snap random pictures. Back then, it was all on film. Scanners were very expensive and most people didn’t even have computers. At the end of the day, I’d have crude pictures which I couldn’t even preview, and no money in my pocket from buying expensive film and paying for even more expensive photo development services.

These days, photography has gotten a lot more affordable. So I decided to pick it up again, and bought myself a camera. A Canon EOS 1000D to be precise. On a recent trip down to Malacca, I went all snap-happy with it. Photography seems to grant me a certain serenity that often escapes me.

Here are three of my favorite shots I took on that trip:

“Light of yesterday”

“Paradise beyond reach”

“Wherever it may lead”

I’m proud of the photos I’ve taken so far, although I acknowledge that there’s plenty of room for improvement. Improving and learning is a big part of the joy of the passion, and I embrace it.

Photography gives me the chance to see things in a different light. The simplest of things can look so beautiful. And the busiest of scenes can look so simple. It’s nice to have a different perspective and outlook of things sometimes. Best of all, now I’ll be able to include more and better photos for my blog entries. Look out for my upcoming food reviews!
